There was a huge old rhododendron out front of the house I grew up in, at least 50 years old . My dad did whatever he could to take care of it, and it inspired our neighbours to plant one in their front yard.
Then the landlords decided they were tearing the house down to build the largest house they could legally build on the property. So no more rhododendron.
